    The Time Is Now

From time to time I think about things that I could have done differently.  If I could actually go back in time, I’d probably go back to the start of my freshman year in college  — my first experience of independence away from my parents.  As I’m thinking about this I’m planning out things (in my mind) that I could […]

Starting a physical fitness program and staying with it can be challenging at times.  Here are  five tips to help you stay the course:

  • Set a Goal.  Be specific about what you will be doing and make sure that it is “attainable” – something that you can reach.
  • Make it fun!  Include activities that you enjoy.  For example, if you enjoy dancing, you may consider adding a belly dancing class to your fitness regimen.
  • Have a partner.  Workout with a friend or family member and encourage each other along the way.
  • Hire a personal trainer.  A personal trainer serves to teach, guide, and encourage you.
  • Reward yourself.  Give yourself a reward for making accomplishments during your program.

And remember, you can make adjustments to your program when necessary. May you have much success!

How to Know When You Are in an Unhealthy Relationship

“Seasons change. Change is good.” Who seeks to be in an unhealthy relationship?  No one does!  An unhealthy relationship can hamper your personal growth, isolate you from friends and family, and just negatively affect your quality of life.  While in an unhealthy relationship, you likely will be making choices to do things that are not […]

Ways to Prevent an Unhealthy Relationship

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”  —  Benjamin Franklin  You meet someone you describe as the love of your life.  Instantly there is chemistry.  Butterflies.  Time flies when you’re together.  You long for him when he’s away.  It is a beautiful beginning. And then little by little things begin to […]

Are You in an Unhealthy Relationship?

“Love is a many-splendored thing.” When starting a relationship,  the goal of the two involved is to experience happiness and bliss, right?  I don’t think any one goes into a relationship aiming for failure or charting a course towards disaster.  Falling in love and being in love makes you light as a feather. You have the […]

New Beginnings

“Every end is a new beginning.”  ~Proverb Summer break is winding down. My children and I had a very relaxing summer just being together and allowing the days to unfold as they arrived.  It was good.  As the time for school  nears, I find myself getting excited in anticipation for it!  No, not because the […]

Take It Easy

We’ve all had one of those days when you’re rushing to do everything. You know, the day when your alarm doesn’t go off.  You arrive at a scheduled appointment 13 minutes late.  Every traffic light is red. Everything just seems to be out of sync.   The last day that I experienced this, as I was speeding out of my […]

Recharge! Refuel!

Have you ever started a new project with passion and excitement?  You wake up each day eager to work your plan — step by step towards your goal.  Then, somehow things come to a screeching halt.  You look ahead and see that you’ve hit a wall. When this happens, it’s your opportunity to recharge and refuel.  […]

Rest Is Good

Rest Is Good

Some years ago, I recall taking a nap after work.  It was the sole thing that I looked forward to after a day at work.  I would sleep for about an hour, get up refreshed, and prepare dinner.  I was single then  —  no husband, no children.  It was all about me.  It felt so […]

Are You Really Taking Care of Yourself?

So often we tell each other,  in closing a conversation to, “take care”.  It just flows out when speaking with someone.  It just seems like a natural and kind thing to say.  But, what are we saying when we say it? The definition of care is to make provision for or look out for.  As women, […]

Can’t Seem To Get It All Done?

Some days I feel like I’m spinning my wheels  —  nothing is being checked off my “to do” list. And when this happens I become so frustrated!  I then begin wishing that I had more hours in a day. If I had 6-8 hours more to my day, I could get so many things done. To […]
